Watson Pond Productions was founded by Brad Johnson in 2004. Johnson began his television career at ABC Sports and eventually moved to Showtime, where he developed cable's first sitcom, “Brothers,” along with other original programming including “Faerie Tale Theatre” and “The Paper Chase.” He later went on to Universal Television, where he ran the comedy department and developed “Major Dad” and “Coach.”

Eventually, Johnson left the development ranks to run Barry Kemp's television company, Bungalow 78 Productions. While there, he began writing and producing, later becoming the showrunner for “Coach,” and serving as executive producer on the ABC and UPN series, “Clueless.”

In 2000, he returned to the executive ranks at Twentieth Century Fox, where he developed several critically acclaimed series, including, “Arrested Development,” “The Bernie Mac Show,” “Reba,” “Still Standing,” “The Simple Life” “Reno 911 and “My Name Is Earl.” During his four-year stint at the studio, three of the shows he developed earned Emmy Awards for best writing.

In 2004, Johnson returned to writing and producing, forming Watson Pond Productions, the company behind the Fox series, “Unhitched.” Johnson was also writer and executive producer on the Comedy Central/BBC series, “Kröd Mändoon and The Flaming Sword of Fire.”

In 2010, Johnson joined CMT to help them develop and produce the network's first scripted programming. While at CMT, Johnson was asked to expand his role to oversee all original programming. During that time, several of his original ideas were developed into series. These include, "Bayou Billionaires" and "My Big Redneck Vacation" and "CMT's Next Superstar."

In 2014, Nick Johnson joined Watson Pond as its VP of Development.

In 2016, Watson Pond Productions joined forces with Warm Springs Productions, the production company behind the series, Mountain Men, Legends and Lies, Log Cabin Living and many others
